Why Is Quartz More Expensive Than Granite
Aug 05, 2018

quartz VS granite

Due to its beautify texture, high density and excellent anti-scratch characteristics, natural granite has been the main decorative material for many decades. While nowadays, more and more people also tend to choose quartz stone as the hard surface material. Although quartz stone is artificial, while its price is even higher than natural granite. Why is quartz more expensive than granite?

First of all, let's look at granite: the density of natural stone is relatively higher, the scratch resistance is outstanding, the wear resistance is good, the texture is very beautiful, and the cost is relatively low. However, natural stone is relatively porous, which tend to accumulate oil stains; when two pieces are spliced, they cannot be integrated into one another. The gap is easy to breed bacteria; the natural stone is hard, but the elasticity is insufficient. If there is a heavy blow, cracks will occur, it is difficult to repair, some invisible natural cracks can also occur when the temperature changes sharply.

Let's look at the quartz stone: it has the same excellent characteristics of natural stone like the high hardness, high temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, impact resistance and easy cleaning. It is produced by the world's most advanced technology.  Its hardness can be comparable to granite, the color and texture is as rich as marble, its structure make it has the same anti-corrosion and anti-fouling features like glass, and the finished form is as perfect as artificial stone. Because of these excellent performance, quartz stone gradually occupies an important position in modern decorative stone. Quartz stone is actually a kind of artificial stone. 93% contents is natural crystal sands. Plus its unique performance and complicated process, no doubt its price will be higher than granite or other ordinary artificial stone.
